Another “Day That Will Live In Infamy”…

Seriously, W.T.H.?? I wasn’t tuned in today to all the nonsense going down at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. — just previewed some photo highlights and international comments of dismay. What a low point in American history! As if the past four years weren’t embarrassment enough.

I do my best to keep this space — and the space in my head and around me — as upbeat and positive as possible, so I went back to my “roots” and tuned in to the wisdom of Mr. Fred Rogers. I watched an interview where he reminded that the thing evil cannot stand up to is forgiveness. It’s a tall order, for sure. But as one of my heroes and role models, I know he is right. Or, put another way:

I am very grateful not to have anyone in my immediate family or sphere that is a narcissist, flat-earther, conspiracy theorist or in any other way completely out of touch with reality or humanity (or democratic ideals). Still, even from a great distance, finding forgiveness, compassion and understanding in the face of insanity and harm to others is a great challenge. I have been using all kinds of tools to stay in a serene place with an open heart, remembering to turn over that which I cannot change and staying focused on what I can control.

While I pray for EVERYONE and meditate on peace and positivity, the feeling of gratitude I have for the sane, supportive, truly caring people I know has deepened and grown dramatically. I am committed to sharing and expressing that appreciation for their incredible value even more moving forward. I want to do all I can to shine as brightly as possible and help others do the same.

Wishing you all peace and blessings!
