The Strongest Position You Can Be In Is Complete Surrender

I don’t know who was the first to say that, but I can attest to the truth of it. Being stubborn and strong-willed, this hasn’t been an easy thing for me to grasp. I had many years of what they refer to in recovery as, “self-will run riot”. In other words, forcing outcomes and driving results according to what I thought was necessary or best. Fighting the loss of things that weren’t good for me in the first place, only to find that some better version was on its way to me.

Life has a way of humbling us to be sure. :) The peace I regularly feel and enjoy now from surrendering and finding acceptance for whatever is, is absolutely priceless. I wish I’d have given myself this gift much sooner in life.

That’s not to say that I don’t drive outcomes and get things done, particularly in my professional life. But my hold on the reins is very loose. Now, when I encounter resistance, I’m able to reflect on it much differently. I can allow for detours, or even reversals, with much more grace.

I trust completely in Life and its intelligence and unfolding. I’ve been shown enough times that it always works out for my best and highest good. So I no longer struggle, fight or force, even if at first it seems like “the end of the world.” I know the truth of the saying that, “when one door closes another door opens”. It’s generally never as quickly as I’d like, but even there I’ve learned patience and trust. Surrender has saved me from drowning multiple times.

So if it feels like you’re going under and grasping for control, I invite you to let go. Surrender and float and be carried by Life. The next steps will reveal themselves to you. Your only “job” is to just love more, starting with yourself. To shine as brightly as you can. Anything preventing you from doing that will fall away if you let it. The energy you will find available to you from releasing the struggle will carry you through any changes or transitions. The peace is real and you deserve it, so give that to yourself. Don’t be afraid to go along the road less traveled.

Many blessings.
