Tuning In

One thing I’ve learned about navigating change (life, in general) is that it’s exponentially easier and more hassle-free when I’m centered and listening to the “still, small voice within.” I’ve always efforted to listen closely to others, but it’s taken even more practice to learn to listen intently to my inner wisdom, nudges or “knowing”. Along the way this has been assisted by yoga, meditation, visualization, crystals, breathwork, sound and energy work, as well as nutrition, to create more balance and ease, making listening easier.

One of my most beloved authors is, Ralph Waldo Emerson. About this he wrote:

There is a guidance for each of us, and by lowly listening we shall hear the right word…Place yourself in the middle of the stream of power and wisdom which flows into your life. Then, without effort, you are impelled to truth and to perfect contentment.

I often think I’d prefer to see much further down the road than I do. But by remembering to center and tune in to what “the next indicated thing” is, I stay focused in the present and maintain a more wholistic view. As things unfold in ways expected, and unexpected, it’s easier to see and trust the perfection of the lessons, timing and changes presented, provided I’m listening. And as I demonstrate willingness, versus resistance, “then, without effort [I am] impelled to truth and to perfect contentment.”
